ALDA is an acronym for Association of Late-Deafened Adults, a national hearing health non-profit, approved by the US IRS as a tax-exempt non-profit corporation, a 501(c)3, and therefore eligible to receive donations that can be deducted by the donor as a charitable deduction on their income tax returns. ALDA is dedicated to support, advocacy, and community for individuals who are late-deafened (not born deaf). You can become a member of ALDA and participate, for example, in national conferences.
Please note that we do not provide financial or medical assistance, nor do we distribute hearing devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.
ALDA Delaware Valley NJ is a local support group sanctioned by ALDA and a subsidiary of the national organization, headquartered in Moorestown, NJ, and founded and led by Ron Gottardi. It is also a 501(c)3, and can accept tax-deductible charitable donations. As a member of ALDA Delaware Valley NJ, you can attend meetings and presentations, where you can meet and socialize with other people with hearing loss and those who support them, participate in local programs, and receive email notices, news, and publications.
In January 2024, this venture started with the presentation, called The Time to Hear is Here. The title was registered and the title became the entity that produced the presentation. In 2025, we affiliated with ALDA to gain tax exempt status, tax deductibility for donations, and greater sustainability. The presentation will continue to be known as The Time to Hear is Here.
We cover Philadelphia, its nearby suburbs in SE PA, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware.
We will offer periodic meetings to meet people with common interests centered on coping with hearing loss, and exchanging news, tips, and advice on hearing health and help.
We will continue to offer the presentation, The Time to Hear is Here, described elsewhere on this website.
We will expand our community outreach to educational institutions and practice centers.
We are already an advocate for those with hearing loss. We will soon send our one thousandth petition to congress requesting enactment of legislation to fund Medicare covering hearing aids. Soon we will advocate improving captions on TV and other media.
We provide resources and information on a variety of topics related to hearing health and help.
Our meetings will be a good place to meet people with common interests and challenges and to make new friends.
